The deployment of skilled workers means having an employment contract with your employer in your home country, who sends you to Germany for a limited period to carry out an assignment agreed upon with a German company. Workers from Lithuania and Latvia coordinate the details of their foreign assignment with their local client. They also receive their salary from their employer in their home country. The employment relationship continues to be governed by the laws of their home country.
If you as a client work together with a subcontractor from the Baltic States or Eastern Europe, you can cover your personnel needs. The maximum validity of an A1 certificate for posting to Germany in the European Union countries is 24 months. If your assignment lasts longer than 24 months, your employer must pay social security contributions in Germany for the foreign workers from the 25th month onwards.
A deployment of workers from the Baltic States to Germany typically ends upon the expiration of the period specified in the secondment contract or, in the case of a special-purpose agreement, upon its fulfillment, such as the completion of a project.
The secondment can be extended as long as the time limit of 24 months is not exceeded.
